East African Wild Life Society (EAWS)

The East African Wild Life Society (EAWLS) is one of the oldest conservation organizations in East Africa that came into being in 1961. EAWLS seeks to enhance the conservation and wise-use of the environment and natural resources in East Africa.

The organization is particularly strong in advocacy as well as strengthening community institutions. Since 1956, the organization has published a quarterly magazine, SWARA that has become one of the most important voices in conservation in the region and the continent.
